The Umbrail Group is a mountain group or sub-group between the Umbrail Pass and Ova dal Gall in Graubünden and Lombardy with the Münstertal as a boundary to the north.

The allocation of the group is handled in a particularly inconsistent manner: according to the Austrian Alpine Club division of the Eastern Alps , it belongs to the Ortler Alps , which extend in an easterly direction , with which it is connected by the Umbrail Pass. According to the division of the Swiss Alpine Club and SOIUSA , it is part of the Münstertal Alps . According to the Swiss spatial structure, it is one of the Graubünden Alps . There are also older assignments to the Livigno Alps bordering southwest or the Sesvenna group to the north . Similarly, the allocation of the east following is Fallaschkamms between Umbrailstraße and Trafoiertal handled differently.

The peaks are usually not difficult and rarely visited. The ascent of the Piz Umbrail ( 3,032  m ) near the pass and the summit in the area of the Ofenpass are very popular . Other important peaks are the Piz Schumbraida ( 3124  m slm ), the Piz Tea Fondada ( 3144  m slm ) and the Piz Turettas ( 2962  m ). The group consists of a northern ridge between Münstertal and Val Mora and a southern main ridge between Val Mora and Valle di Fraele .

The group consists mainly of dolomite rocks and is characterized by extensive areas. An important developer of the Umbrail group at the beginning of the 20th century was Günter Oskar Dyhrenfurth , who excelled in geological exploration as well as numerous first ascents in the group.
