Münstertal Alps
The Münstertal Alps according to SOIUSA are subsection 15.V and thus part of the Western Rhaetian Alps and are located in the Münstertal (Val Müstair) in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland .
It corresponds to the Sesvenna group of the Austrian Alpine division AVE except for two changes:
- the Umbrail group in Switzerland is part of the Münstertal Alps and not like in AVE , where it belongs to the mostly Italian Ortler Alps and
- Austrian Nauderer mountains are to SOIUSA completely part of the Oetztal Alps and not as AVE , where they partially the Sesvenna group belongs
This means that the Münstertal Alps are entirely in Switzerland and the SOIUSA corresponds to the division of the Swiss Alpine Club . At the same time SOIUSA place with the Nauderer valley , as border with the Oetztal Alps and the Braulio Valley , the Stelvio , the Trafoiertal and Suldenbach as a border with the Ortler Alps still orographic limits.
