The Sesvenna group is a mountain group in the central eastern Alps . The countries Austria with the federal state Tyrol , Switzerland with the canton Graubünden and Italy with the province South Tyrol have a share .

Around two thirds of the subgroup are located on Swiss territory, where they are referred to as the Lower Engadine-Münstertal region or the Münstertal Alps . Only a small corner in the northeast near Nauders is in Austria.

Boundary and neighboring mountain groups

The name of the subgroup, its definition as a subgroup of the Central Alps of the Eastern Alps and its boundaries are based on the Alpine Club division of the Eastern Alps (AVE), which is defined according to orographic criteria:

Swiss National Park

The Swiss National Park includes larger parts of the Sesvenna group. Switzerland currently has only one national park. With its peripheral areas, it is recorded as a Swiss National Park and peripheral areas as a landscape of national importance No. 1915.

Lischanahütte

There is only one Alpine Club hut in the Italian part of the Sesvenna group :

  • Sesvennahütte : Altitude: 2256 m, open in summer from mid-June to the end of October and in winter from late February to mid-May, 78 mattress dormitories, winter room with 6 dormitories open, valley location: Schlinig near Mals in Vinschgau, walking time from Schlinig: 1.75 hours

There is another hut in the Swiss part of the Sesvenna group:

  • Lischanahütte / Chamanna Lischana: altitude 2500 m, managed in summer from the beginning of July to the beginning of October, 42 mattress dormitories, valley location: Scuol in the Lower Engadine, walking time: 4 hours

Long-distance / long-distance hiking trails
