Appearance

From the east, Piz Plavna Dadaint stands out with its distinctive pyramid shape. Photographs from the easily accessible Sur il Foss , the pass crossing between Val Plavna and Val Mingèr on the border of the Swiss National Park, are particularly common . In addition to the pyramid shape, the two striking columns southeast of the summit are visible from Sur il Foss ( 3,044  m above sea level ).

Ascent

Piz Plavna Dadaint above the Val Plavna

Despite its striking appearance, Piz Plavna Dadaint is rarely climbed. The normal route of the summer ascent leads from the hamlet of Fontana in Tarasp up through the Val Plavna. Above Alp Plavna , the route leads through the Pedrus cone area and a steep scree gully to a notch in the southwest ridge. A narrow incision and a band lead to the uppermost west flank, where another scree channel and a short ridge lead to the summit. A faded arrow in the notch and at the end of the ribbon makes it easier to find a route. The ground is steep and brittle over the whole route, a helmet to protect against falling rocks makes sense. The level of difficulty is T6 / II. The relatively long total time of 12 hours is particularly important.

The normal route for ski tours leads from the east from Zernez over the Alp Laschadura and the Fuorcla Laschadurella transition , the Gravas basin over the western slope ( crampons ) also to the southwest ridge. An alternative ski route to the south-west ridge starts from Alp Plavna over the Piz Foraz basin and the southern flank of Piz Plavna Dadaint. The ascent of the summit is carried out by climbing, similar to the summer ascent. Conditions, together with crampons: good snow and weather conditions, early departure, ice axes and crampons .
