The Piz Chavalatsch ( Italian Monte Cavallaccio ) is a 2763 m high mountain peak in the Alps . The border between Italy and Switzerland or the province of South Tyrol and the canton of Graubünden runs at the summit . The summit, marked with the Swiss boundary stone 29, is the easternmost point in Switzerland . The slopes sloping down to the Italian side are protected in the Stilfserjoch National Park .
The mountain is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Vinschgau and can be easily reached by hikers via Stilfs and the Obere Stilfser Alm , which is located at an altitude of 2057 m , or from Switzerland in about 5 hours from Müstair . From the summit you have a 360 ° panoramic view of the Münstertal and the surrounding mountains of the Ortler Alps .
About 60 m away from the summit cross there is a former Italian customs office, which now serves as a relay station for the Dolomites Radio Club (Italian amateur radio call sign IR3EB) for radio amateurs in Vinschgau.
