The Piz Nuna is 3124 m above sea level. M. high mountain in the Sesvenna group in the Swiss Alps .
Location and surroundings
The summit rises about 5 km northeast of Zernez above the Val Laschadura, a side valley of the Val da Spöl . The northern flank of the mountain slopes down to Val Nuna, a small side valley of the Lower Engadine . On the north side there are also remains of the Vadret da Nuna glacier .
Routes to the summit
The Piz Nuna is one of the few peaks in the Sesvenna group that are climbed more frequently. The most popular route for the ascent begins on the Ofenpassstrasse just below Ova Spin. From there you climb through the Val Laschadura to Fuorcla Stragliavita, and then reach the summit via the southeast ridge in an easy climb ( WS, II ). This route is generally described as very beautiful and rewarding because of the far-reaching view from the ridge over the entire Engadine and the good quality of the rock (compared to the surrounding area). Another route leads over the south face of the mountain through a scree channel ending directly below the summit. This variant is often used for descent.
