Umhverfisstofnun (dt. Isländische Umweltagentur , engl. The Environment Agency of Iceland) is the Icelandic state environmental and nature conservation authority.

Umhverfisstofnun manages all protected areas in Iceland ( national parks , nature parks , nature reserves and biosphere reserves ). The organization is divided into four departments:
- Environmental regulation
- Environmental supervision , consumer protection, etc. a.
- Nature conservation , management of all protected areas
- Wildlife management , etc. a. responsible for Icelandic hunting law
Protected areas
The following protected areas are managed by UST:
National parks
- Thingvellir National Park
- Snaefellsjokull National Park
- Vatnajökull National Park , Vatnajökull Glacier, Skaftafell and Jökulsárgljúfur.
Nature parks
- Álfaborg, Borgarfjörður eystri, Norður-Múlasýsla
- Ástjörn and Ásfjall
- Bláfjöll
- Böggvistaðafjall, Dalvík
- Hrútey, Blanda, Austur-Húnavatnssýsla
- Hólmanes
- Hlið, Bessastaðahreppi
- Kasthúsatjörn og aðliggjandi fjara, Álftanesi
