Umhverfisstofnun (dt. Isländische Umweltagentur , engl. The Environment Agency of Iceland) is the Icelandic state environmental and nature conservation authority.

Umhverfisstofnun manages all protected areas in Iceland ( national parks , nature parks , nature reserves and biosphere reserves ). The organization is divided into four departments:

  • Environmental regulation
  • Environmental supervision , consumer protection, etc. a.
  • Nature conservation , management of all protected areas
  • Wildlife management , etc. a. responsible for Icelandic hunting law
