Changing room
A changing room - called cloakroom in Austria and Switzerland - is a functional room in public or commercial buildings. It enables the people working there to take off their street clothes and put on the special clothing required for the next job (work clothes in workplaces , sportswear in sports halls , swimwear in swimming pools ).
Changing rooms often contain a bench on which objects can be placed, as well as coat hooks on which items of clothing can be hung, and in the case of buildings that are accessible to the public, lockers that can be locked to prevent theft .
Changing rooms are usually separated according to gender. They are often combined with showers or washrooms so that personal hygiene can be carried out after work or sport .
At venues, there are often individual changing rooms available for the artists in the backstage area, which offer the opportunity to relax and also serve as a retreat.

A changing room - more rarely also called a trying-on room - is a small version of the changing room with a floor area of around two square meters. Changing rooms are to be found in the same places as changing rooms and serve the same purpose, with the difference that only one person (as a rule) can use the cabin at a time and the changing process can thus be carried out from view.
Changing rooms can also be found in fashion stores . Their purpose there is to enable a privacy-protected fitting .
