The União Para O Desenvolvimento ( Portuguese for Union for Development , Chinese同心 協 進 會) is a political party in the Macau Special Administrative Region within the People's Republic of China , which has held two seats in the Legislative Assembly of Macau since the 2017 general election .

Networking with the Macau Federation of Trade Unions

The party is very close to the influential Macau Trade Union Confederation . De facto , the trade union federation runs direct elections through the party's electoral list . In addition, the trade union federation also provides other officials in political institutions in Macau. In particular by the two the Federation of Trade Unions belonging deputies that for advocacy since candidatura the associações de Empregados Comissão Conjunta could move in the functional constituency of workers' sector in the Legislative Assembly, to increase the influence of the trade union federation in the politics of Macau.

history

In the parliamentary elections in 1992 , the União Para O Desenvolvimento stood for the first time in an election in Macau and won two mandates from scratch . One of the mandates went to the current Prime Minister of Macau , Fernando Chui . In the following legislative periods , the party remained permanently represented in parliament . In the 2017 parliamentary election, the party's electoral list received 16,696 votes, 9.67% of the total, and received two seats.

Alignment

The party sees itself as a representative of the working class and also has a permanent personal network with the trade union confederation of Macau. The União Para O Desenvolvimento fully supports the policies of the People's Republic of China. In addition to the undisputed assignment of Macau to the People's Republic of China, i.e. Chinese patriotism , the party also supports the economic policy of the socialist People's Republic of China. However, this has not been so strictly socialist for a long time, but has also experienced a strong market socialist character in recent decades. The União Para O Desenvolvimento also fits into this scheme, which in addition to a socialist attitude also contains economically liberal elements with a focus on the tolerance and promotion of gambling in Macau. The issuing of licenses for casinos is intended to ensure social security for citizens.
