Unión Peruana de Productores Fonográficos

The Unión Peruana de Productores Fonográficos (abbreviated as UNIMPRO ) is the Peruvian branch of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry based in Lima . The organization's tasks are to award music awards and to combat piracy in the area of music downloads . Its president is currently Plácido Domingo.

The award amount is based on the year of certification and not on the date of publication. For example, an album released in 2007 will not be awarded a gold record in 2015 with 5,000 units sold.
