In 1994 the holding company had a total of seven operating companies. The group's turnover was NLG 933 million (ECU 443 million), with a net loss of NLG 41,072 million (ECU 20 million). Unisource held interests in the telecommunications consortium CNI , in which AT&T , Deutsche Bank AG and Mannesmann AG were also represented. In July 1996, CNI took over a 49.8 percent stake in DBKom .

The merger in Europe should make Unisource Carrier Services the leading provider of international telecommunications connections.

The fourth Telefónica quickly left the holding company and joined an alliance with the competing consortium Concert between the British BT Group and the US MCI .

After economic difficulties, the company began to sell individual business areas at the end of 1999 under the leadership of Wim Dik .
