The United National Front for Good Governance ( UNFGG , Sinhala එක්සත් යහපාලන ජාතික පෙරමුණ , Tamil நல்லாட்சிக்கான ஐக்கிய தேசிய முன்னணி , "United National Front for Good Government") is an alliance of parties founded on July 12, 2015 in Sri Lanka under the leadership of the United National Party .

The trigger for the establishment was the upcoming parliamentary election in Sri Lanka on August 17, 2015 . After the election date was announced at the end of July 2015, the UNP, one of the two major political parties in Sri Lanka (alongside the SLFP), declared that it wanted to fight an election campaign alone without a coalition partner. But then she changed her mind and started talks with smaller parties. On July 5, 2015, gave Sinhala - Buddhist Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) their withdrawal from the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) coalition, who had heard previously known. She announced that she would run for another political alliance in the upcoming elections. The new joint alliance was launched on July 12, 2015 in Temple Trees , the residence of the Prime Ministers in Colombo, with a joint statement by representatives of the United National Party (UNP), the JHU, and dissidents from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) under the Name United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG) officially established. The Tamil Progressive Alliance , which was formed on July 3, 2015 through the merger of three small Tamil parties ( Democratic People's Front , Workers National Front , Up-Country People's Front ), also joined the UNFGG. The acting Prime Minister and UNP Chairman Ranil Wickremesinghe became the spokesman and chairman of the UNFGG .

On July 24, 2015, the UNFGG announced its election manifesto. The central points of the program are the stimulation of economic growth, the fight against corruption, the preservation and expansion of civil rights, investments in infrastructure and improvement of the education system. UNFGG spokesmen said one of the main goals of the alliance was to consolidate the 100-day revolution that began when President Sirisena took office on January 9, 2015. In the parliamentary election on August 17, 2015 , the UNFGG, which ran under the party symbols of the UNP, won 45.66 percent of the vote and 106 of 225 parliamentary seats and was thus able to form the government.
