United People's Movement ( UPM for short ) is an ethnic party in Namibia . It emerged in 2009 from the "Rehoboth Democratic Movement" (Reho-DM). For a long time their goal was the independence of the traditional settlement area of ​​the Rehoboth Baster . Their headquarters are in Rehoboth .

The party is led by party president Jan van Wyk and vice president Piet Junius .

Election results

UPM only competed at regional and local level until 2014. Due to its orientation, it is particularly successful in the area around the city of Rehoboth and regularly won seats in the municipal administration . In the local elections in 2010 , it emerged as the second largest party.

She took part nationwide for the first time in the 2014 parliamentary elections and won a seat in the National Assembly of Namibia with 0.71 percent of the votes cast .
