The United States Lines (USL) were a US- American shipping company that operated a transatlantic liner service from 1921 to 1969. The most famous ship was the United States .

The shipping company was created from stocks of the failed United States Mail Steamship Company . Initially, three ships drove for the shipping company. The America and George Washington were both German passenger ships , which after the First World War as reparation had gone to America. They drove the route New York - Bremerhaven , while the third, the Centennial State , drove from New York to London . One of the founding members of the shipping company was Kermit Roosevelt , a son of the American President Theodore Roosevelt .
