Univel

Univel is the name of a joint venture between Novell and Unix System Laboratories (USL) from AT&T .

Univel was founded in 1991 and has $ 30 million in funding. At the beginning Novell held a 55% stake in Univel. Univel's aim was to develop a Unix based on Unix SVR4 , which was named UnixWare . The first version of UnixWare was introduced in November 1992, which was taken over by Novell about a year later in June 1993. Novell formed the Novell Unix Systems Group from Univel and the USL .
