The University of Science and Technology in Central China ( Chinese 華中 科技 大學 / 华中 科技 大学 , Pinyin Huázhōng Kējì Dàxué ), abbreviated to HUST , is a university in Wuhan , in the Chinese province of Hubei . The university was founded in 1953; its facilities are spread over an area of around 467 hectares .
Central China University of Science and Technology is one of the Universities of Project 211 and Project 985 . Today's university was created through a merger of the former Technical University of Central China with the Medical Tongji University and the Institute for Urban Planning Wuhan in May 2000. It maintains a partnership with the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .
There are currently eleven disciplines.
