The University Library of the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich provides information services to support studies, teaching and research at the University of the Federal Armed Forces Munich . This is a member of the Bavarian Library Association and freely accessible to the public within the framework of its usage regulations.

In 2017, the library moved into a new building equipped with the latest library technology (in particular lending and returning to self-check terminals and return machines). The new building is equipped with study and workplaces as well as group work rooms. At the same time, the UB special collections were also made freely accessible in a newly created library area.

Study and workplaces in the university library

The single-layer university library consists of the central campus library (approx. 370,000 media, including current printed journals in the open access holdings and textbook collection), the special holdings (above all the former military department library, which was previously stored in an additional library area, several former private and scholarly libraries and the libraries of the former Army Officer School III and the Air Force Technical College with approx. 182,000 media) and the library magazine (approx. 730,000 media units).

Duration

As of July 2020, the library has a total of around 1.3 million media units in the form of printed works, microforms, cards, electronic and audiovisual media. Of these, around 485,000 media units are freely accessible and around 730,000 media units can be borrowed from the closed magazine. In addition, there are around 47,000 titles as electronic full-text journals (around 500 titles in print) and around 200 licensed literature and fact databases as well as 197,000 permanently licensed and numerous temporarily available e-books.

The library is connected to the electronic journals library and DBIS . The OPAC and OPAC + catalogs can be used to research the holdings of the University Library of the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and the Bavarian Library Association.

Learning and workplaces

There are 300 study and workplaces with electricity, LAN and WLAN, 8 group work rooms and copy and scan options (including Bookeye® scanners).

Further information and services

In the university library, personal consultations ("Book a Librarian") are possible and students can take part in information events on the UB services and seminar-integrated training courses. In addition, there are compulsory elective courses for imparting information skills with ECTS points as part of studies at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and training courses in cooperation with high schools (W seminar accompaniment). In addition, the university library offers the information portal AtheneResearch as the central publication record of the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich, which currently documents the publication activities and research work of the university members. The university library also offers advice and support for open access publications. You can also subscribe to lists of new acquisitions.
