The University of Makeni (UNIMAK) is a university in Sierra Leone .

It was founded in 2005 as The Fatima Institute in Makeni and received university status in 2009 . The University of Makeni was the first private university in the country and had campaigned for the admission of private universities in the University Act of 2005. Patron of the university is Bishop Emeritus Reverend George Biguzzi ( ret. ).

The university has a main campus ( Fatima College ) and since 2010 a second campus ( St. Joseph's College of Management and ICT ) not far from Makeni in Yoni . In 2014 UNIMAK had around 1200 students. With the outbreak of the Ebola virus epidemic in Sierra Leone , enrollments fell, but rose again to 1,700 students by 2016.
