There was also a branch of Army Repair Logistics GmbH on the site of the barracks . On October 26, 2011, Federal Defense Minister Thomas de Maizière ( CDU ) announced the 2011 deployment concept , which included the closure of the Kusel site. At the end of 2014, the barracks were given up by the Bundeswehr. Since January 2019, the Ministry of Defense has been checking whether the barracks should be reactivated and used as a location for Heeresinstandsetzunglogistik GmbH and a rescue helicopter. The result of the examination is expected by the end of 2019.

Naming

In the justification for the naming by the BMVg it was said that he

has served as a role model to this day thanks to his heroism, which was demonstrated in the First World War. and after he had not heard the order to retreat, left alone with his gun, he heroically destroyed 16 enemy tanks before he was wounded himself and shortly after succumbed to his injuries.
