The Investigation Committee Act (PUAG) is a German federal law that elaborates on Article 44 of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany (GG). Article 44 of the Basic Law states that the Bundestag is entitled (and at the request of a quarter of its members obliged) to set up a parliamentary committee of inquiry (PUA) (Article 44, Paragraph 1, Sentence 1 of the Basic Law; this corresponds to Section 1, Paragraph 1 of the PUAG).

The PUAG contains more detailed regulations on the competencies, composition and procedures of investigative committees, for example on the public, on security and on official secrecy (§§ 14 ff. PUAG).
