Uppsala Basket is a Swedish basketball club from Uppsala .

history

The association was founded in 1960 as YMCA Uppsala Basket . From 1989 to 1992 the club was called Arapt Basket .

The club took part from the 1992/93 season continuously in the highest Swedish basketball league, the Svenska basketligan , without ever relegating it. Before going into the first season, the club name was changed again to Mazda Basketball . Under this name, the club reached the semi-finals of the play-offs in the premier season of the league, the year after they did not make it into the play-offs.

For the 1994/95 season, the club called itself again differently. As Fyrishov Gators you did not get into the play-offs in the first season, in the second you reached the semi-finals and in the third season the quarter-finals. The next name change came from the 1997/98 season. Sallén Basket was the name of the club and was named after the main sponsor Salléns Electronic . Under this name, the team never got past the play-off quarter-finals in nine years.

For the 2007/08 season, the main sponsor dropped out and the club returned to its original name. Only the abbreviation YMCA was left out. As Uppsala Basket in 2009 a participation in the semi-finals followed, which was narrowly lost to Solna Vikings . The following year the team made it to the semi-finals again and again they couldn't win, Plannja Basket was too strong. In 2011 and 2012 they were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Uppsala Basket is seventh in the Svenska basketligan eternal table, mainly because of its permanent affiliation .
