Upsettlington Castle is an Outbound lowland castle in Upsettlington (now Ladykirk ) in the Scottish administration unit Scottish Borders . The castle was the caput of the Lordship Upsettlington.
history
King Wilhelm the Lion granted land and baronage to the Bisset family . Upsettlington Castle was strategically located opposite Norham Castle, England, on the banks of the Tweed .
In 1297/1298 the castle was sacked and destroyed when William Bisset, Lord of Upsettlington , served the English King Edward I during his expedition to Flanders .
