Uršue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Uršue Iškalli was a Hurrian goddess who belongs to the Ḫebat circle . The rock relief 57 with the inscription (DEUS) u + ra / i-su in the Hittite shrine Yazılıkaya depicts this goddess.

Little can be said about Uršue. In the Hurrian ritual of the Old Gods, she is called “the witness of the female goddesses”, while Išḫašḫarna is the witness of the male gods. Its name comes from Akkadian and can be interpreted as "Great Temple ( akk . Ešgallu ) of the city of Uršu (possibly near Gaziantep )". How and when the Hurrian goddess emerged from this remains unclear.
