Lindgren, who for Piteå Elit launched, debuted in January 1995 in Östersund in the World Cup and took it to the 56th over 30 km freestyle. He got his first World Cup points in December 1998 in Davos with 18th place over 30 km classic. In the 1999/2000 season he came nine times in the points. He achieved seventh place over 50 km classic in Oslo and fifth place in the sprint, his best individual placements in the World Cup. He finished the season in 35th place in the overall World Cup, 20th in the long distance World Cup and 19th in the Sprint World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2001 in Lahti , he won the silver medal with the relay. He also achieved 25th place over 15 km classic and 14th place over 30 km classic. In March 2001, he finished second with the relay at the Falun World Cup . In his last active season 2001/02 he won the relay in Davos and finished second in Kuopio . At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City he came in 17th place over 15 km classic and 13th place with the relay.
Lindgren became Swedish champions in 1999 , with the Piteå Elit season. The following year he won over 30 km.
