The German Copyright Administration Act regulated until May 31, 2016 the exercise of rights of use, rights of consent or claims for remuneration resulting from the Copyright Act for the account of several authors by collecting societies . Well-known such collecting societies are GEMA and VG Wort .

The exercise of usage rights, consent rights and remuneration claims have been regulated by the Collecting Societies Act (VGG) since June 1, 2016 .
