Origin and meaning

The name Uri is documented in the Bible ( Old Testament ) or the Torah . This is the name of the father of Bezaleel, to whom God gave the necessary skill to build the tabernacle , Uri (Exodus 31.2; 35.30; 38.22; 1. Chr 2.20; 2. Chr 1.5) . This name is also mentioned in 1 Kings 4:19 and Ezra 10:24.

Uri can be translated as "my flame" or "my light". Uri is therefore an occasional name for boys born on Hanukkah .
