Uroš Lajovic

Uroš Lajovic (born July 4, 1944 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian conductor and university professor in Vienna .

Lajovic first studied at the Ljubljana Music Academy (composition and conducting) and then at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Bruno Maderna and at the Vienna Music Academy in the class of Hans Swarowsky .

His debut as a conductor took place at the age of 21 on October 24, 1965. Initially he was assistant conductor, then permanent conductor of the Slovenian Philharmonic. From 1979 to 1981 he was chief conductor of the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra. From 1980 he worked at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, where he became professor in 1991 (retired in 2012). From 2001 to 2006 he was chief conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic . In 2009, he also took on the position of conducting professor at the Zagreb Music Academy, which he held until 2014. Lajovic has made guest appearances with orchestras all over Europe, Russia, Turkey, the USA, Korea, China, Taiwan and Colombia.
