Urs Tillmanns (born October 13, 1945 ) is a Swiss photographer and specialist journalist for photography, photo historian and journalist.

Life

After completing his apprenticeship as a photographer with Hans Hinz in Basel , Urs Tillmanns worked for 14 years in the fields of advertising, scientific and industrial photography , including the forensic technology of the Basel public prosecutor , the watch factory Longines AG and the research and development institute of Alusuisse AG . In 1976 he joined the magazine “Photographie”, whose technical section he was editor-in-chief for 13 years . Tillmanns wrote over 1200 specialist articles, essays on theoretical and practical areas of photography and published specialist books on photo-didactic, technical and photography-historical topics. He has been a freelance specialist journalist since 1991. In addition to his work as an editor and publicist, he ran the press office of the interest group of Swiss photo suppliers (ISFL) and was president of the society of the Musée suisse de l'appareil photographique in Vevey . He is the editor of the Swiss online magazine for photography and digital imaging «Fotointern» and the associated «Fotoagenda».
