Urschlaraffia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Urschlaraffia was an association of sociable societies in the German-speaking area.

Their gatherings took the form of a knightly game from the first half of the 20th century. The purpose of the association (cultivation of art and science, humor, friendship), the statutes and the ceremonial of this men's association followed almost all of those of the Schlaraffia .

history

The Urschlaraffia was founded with the first Urschlaraffia (Reych = local association) Castellum Vindobonense in Vienna in 1925 as a parallel to the Schlaraffia ( Allschlaraffia ) that had existed since 1859 ( Prague ) and 1871 (Vienna ). A dispute over the application of the Aryan paragraph led to the split, and from then on the Urschlaraffia adopted a rather "folk-anti-Semitic " attitude.

development

As in Schlaraffia , it was spread by daughter reyche. These were founded in large numbers before the Second World War, especially in Austria and in the territory of Czechoslovakia ( Sudetenland ), even in places where there was already a Schlaraffia. With the occupation by National Socialist Germany, the Urschlaraffia (like the Schlaraffia in these areas) came to a temporary end in 1938 and 1939. After the Second World War, some Urschlaraffenreyche emerged again in Austria, and new foundations also took place. Ultimately, Urschlaraffenreyche passed in Vienna, Klagenfurt, Mariazell, Graz, Althofen, Windischgarsten and Rottenmann. Another great monkey rey existed in Munich.

Differences to Schlaraffia

The differences in the purpose of the association and in the form of the association's life were very small. For example, the motto "In arte voluptas" (In art, lust) has been replaced by "In litteris et artibus voluptas" (In science and the arts, lust) instead of "Lulu!" served "marriage!" as a greeting and applause. The members of the Urschlaraffia were often more of a German national character. Jews , including men with Jewish wives, were not accepted. The writer Emil Hadina also entered in order to be able to contribute his national stance .

Association with the Allschlaraffia association

After lengthy negotiations, in 1972 the Austrian Urschlaraffian colonies (colony = preliminary stage to a Schlaraffenreych) were accepted into the Allschlaraffia community. The Munich Urschlaraffenreych followed in 1973.
