Ursula Berger

Ursula Berger (born August 5, 1950 in Zurich ) is a Swiss dancer, dance teacher and choreographer.

After training as a commercial clerk in Olten and studies in contemporary dance , modern dance , ballet , creative dance, movement theater, improvisation and choreography in Montreal, New York and at the universities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Ursula Berger worked on dance projects in the USA with before she returned to Switzerland. She has been running her own dance studio in Olten since 1977.

Ursula Berger works as a dance teacher and choreographer in numerous projects and supports theater performances, musicals and opera productions. With her own dance company she realized appearances and performances in Switzerland and abroad. She teaches with teaching assignments at various schools.

Berger is a board member of the DanseSuisse professional association . It belonged to the Swiss Professional Association for Dance and Gymnastics SBTG and, since its dissolution in 2008, to the successor organization IG SBTG . As a choreographer, she is recognized by the Swiss Association of Dancers and Choreographers SVTC . In the canton of Solothurn she is a member of the dance and theater commission of the cantonal board of trustees for the promotion of culture. And she was a member of the jury for the Swiss Dance & Choreography Prize and the competition for classical ballet organized by DanseSuisse in Solothurn.

In 1996, Ursula Berger founded the Olten Dance Days , for which she is the president of the Tanz in Olten association and artistic director. She leads dance performances in the Stadttheater Olten.

Ursula Berger has been awarded several prizes:

  • Recognition award from the city of Olten
  • Prize Schloss Wartenfels 2006
  • Recognition award for dance of the Canton of Solothurn 2006
