Ursula Heise
Ursula K. Heise (* 1960 ) is a German literary scholar .
Career
Heise studied at the University of Cologne initially Romance and went after her intermediate examination in 1981/82 with a DAAD scholarship at the University of Lyon II . She then took an intermediate examination in English Philology and went to the University of California, Santa Barbara , in 1983/84, again as a DAAD scholarship holder . There she acquired an MA in 1985 , followed by a master's degree in Romance studies in Cologne in 1987. Heise then received a doctoral scholarship to Stanford University , where she received her PhD in literary theory in 1993 and taught there as a professor of comparative literature until 2012 . Since 2012 she has been a professor in the Department of English at the University of California .
In 2011 Heise received a Guggenheim Fellowship .
