Ursula Piëch

Ursula Piëch (* 19th May 1956 as Ursula Plasser in Braunau am Inn ), is an Austrian economic manager . From April 2012 to April 25, 2015 she was a member of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG . She was the second wife of Ferdinand Piëch (1937-2019).

Life

Ursula Plasser learned the profession of kindergarten teacher and day care worker with an additional examination subject economics and law. At the age of 25, she was running a kindergarten when, in 1982, she responded to an advertisement from Ferdinand Piëch's then partner Marlene Porsche, who was looking for a governess . Ursula Plasser married Ferdinand Piëch in September 1984. Her married name is Piëch. From this marriage three children were born, Ferdinand Piëch has nine other children from previous connections.

Ursula Piëch has influenced the fortunes of Volkswagen AG since 2001. She is her husband's deputy on the board of trustees of the two private foundations into which he has contributed his corporate investments. In 2010 Ferdinand Piëch designated her as his future successor in his will. At the Annual General Meeting on April 19, 2012, Ursula Piëch was elected to the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG. She replaced TUI boss Michael Frenzel on the capital side . On April 25, 2015, she resigned from her Supervisory Board mandate with immediate effect.

Ursula Piëch is also the chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Neue Schule model school in Wolfsburg .
