History and meaning
When the three kings bell broke for the second time in 1862, the cathedral chapter decided to buy a fourth bell, the Ursula bell . It was cast in the same year by Joseph Beduwe in Aachen and commemorates the completion of the nave. In the middle of the Latin inscription there is a relief of St. Ursula . Further designs complete the picture.

Translation : When the nave of the cathedral church was completed, in order to achieve a fuller harmony of the bells, I was cast at the expense of the factory and St. Ursula, the patroness of the city of Cologne, consecrated in 1862. John the Holy Roman Church Cardinal von Geißel , Archbishop of Cologne .
Joseph Beduwe from Aachen cast me.

Sunday masses | Bells |
---|---|
Sundays during Advent | Ursula and Joseph (5 and 6) |
Sundays during Christmas time | Ursula, Joseph and Chapters (5, 6 and 7) |
Sundays during Lent | Ursula and Joseph (5 and 6) |
Sundays during Easter | Ursula, Joseph and Chapters (5, 6 and 7) |
Sundays in the annual cycle | Ursula, Kapitel and Ave (5, 7 and 8) |
