history

The street was named after the Ursulines who came from Liège to Düren in 1681 . Near the Cologne-Obertor-Promenade, a ditch stretched to the east, which was called Frannzosengraben and later Franzosengasse because of the French soldiers who died of an epidemic after the occupation of Düren in 1794 and were buried here . This path ran at a right angle to Bonner Strasse. On March 22, 1889, the city council agreed to renaming it Ursulinenstrasse.
