Urza is a funeral doom band founded in 2015 in Berlin .

history

Urza was founded in 2015 by the drummer Hannes, the bassist Marc Leclerc and the guitarist Oliver Schreyer. Guitarist Marcus and singer Thomas joined them a little later. After signing a contract with the Russian label Solitude Productions , the band released their debut album The Omnipresence of Loss , which received an average to positive reception from critics. The assessments varied from the assessment that the album was “more than decent”, but “shy and sparing with melodies and experiments” to the praise that the band “arrived with a clap of thunder” and “the scene immediately with new impulses “Enrich. The majority of the reviews, however, pointed to the high quality of the genre and attested the album to have a “funeral doom death magic” and significant potential.

style

The music presented by Urza is classified as Funeral Doom. Popular genre representatives such as Esoteric , Evoken or Doom: VS are used for comparison . The rhythm is mainly presented slowly, depending on the genre. The pace is increased only occasionally. The singing is mostly presented as a deep growling . Occasionally so-called shouts and screams contrast the otherwise deep singing. The riffing is emphasized as massive, emphatically slow and particularly powerful .
