Usana [ oˈzanɐ ], or Uzana ( Bulgarian Узана ) is a region and a resort in central Bulgaria . Here is the geographical center of the country.

location

The region lies at the foot of the 1524  m high Ispolin summit in the National Park of the Central Balkan Mountains in the Central Balkan National Park . The next larger city is Gabrovo , 22 km away , there are good road connections and buses run regularly.

Usana is also a resort, especially for winter sports. It consists of very large meadows surrounded by forests. The winter sports resort is at an altitude of 1220  m to 1350  m . The highest point is the Markow stol summit ( 1352  m ). The longest slope is 1300 m long. There are 15 hotels in the resort of Usana. The annual snowfall is 5.08 m. The environment is suitable for climbers and cave explorers. The history of the Usana winter sports resort began in 1937 when the " Usana " mountain hut was built here .

Usana of many hiking routes in the Balkan Mountains, including the monument at Shipka Pass and the summit Busludscha (bulg. Бузлуджа, 1441  m ).

Usana is located on the Kom - Emine (Bulgarian Ком - Емине) long-distance hiking trail , which is part of the E3 European long-distance hiking trail .

Not far from Usana is the Etar Ethnographic Open-Air Museum (Bulgarian Етъра), and the Sokolski Monastery (Bulgarian Соколският манастир) is only a few kilometers away.
