Uta Eser

Uta Eser (born April 20, 1964 in Eltville am Rhein ) is a German biologist and environmental ethicist .

Life

Uta Eser studied biochemistry, biology, sociology and philosophy in Tübingen . She then did her doctorate at the International Center for Ethics in Science (IZEW) in Tübingen and wrote her dissertation on value judgments in nature conservation using the example of the neophyte problem . She moved to the Institute for Science and Technology Research (IWT) at Bielefeld University as a post-doc and did research with Jim Griesemer, History and Philosophy of Biology Program at UC Davis (USA).

In her research, she is primarily interested in theory and ethics in interdisciplinary environmental science using the example of biodiversity . Uta Eser researched, taught and trained at the "Coordination Office for Economy and Environment" at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences (FH Nürtingen) until 2015. Today she works as a freelancer on this topic and in general on the fields of environmental ethics and environmental communication .

Commitment and memberships

Eser is an associated member of the International Center for Ethics in Science (IZEW) of the University of Tübingen, the Advisory Board of the Sustainability Faculty of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, the project-accompanying working group for the nature awareness studies of BfN & BMUB and the Project Advisory Board of Natural Capital Germany (TEEB-DE) .
