The Utah Valley University (also UVU is called) is a state university in Orem in the State of Utah . More than 23,000 students are enrolled here. The college is one of the fastest growing universities in the United States in terms of student numbers and the third largest college in Utah.
history
The college was founded in 1941 as the Central Utah Vocational School in Provo , renamed the Utah Trade Technical Institute in 1963, and the Utah Technical College at Provo in 1967 . In 1977 the university moved to its current location in Orem . Before it was given its current name and university status in 2008, it was named Utah Valley Community College from 1987 and Utah Valley State College from 1993 .
Sports
The UVU sports teams are the Wolverines . The university is a member of the Western Athletic Conference .
The Utah Flash team also used the UCCU Center on the university campus for home games until they moved to Delaware in 2011.
