Ute Krause (* 1960 in Berlin ) is a German writer, screenwriter , director and illustrator of books for children and young people who lives in Berlin .

Life

Ute Krause was born in West Berlin, but her parents came from places in the GDR. Through her father's work as a development worker, she spent her childhood and adolescence in various countries and continents, such as Turkey, Nigeria, Cyprus, India and the United States. In 1968 she was in Turkey, in 1971 in India. Since 1985 she has been writing and illustrating children's books such as Santa Clauses , The Big Bear , Minus Drei and Die Muskeltiere . Some of her works have received multiple awards, including a. nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize, translated internationally or made into a film for television.

She initially studied visual communication at the Berlin Art School, and from 1989 film and television acting at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF Munich). In 1990 she made her first short film, further tasks in the short and documentary field followed, then commissioned work for advertising.
