Utgard
Utgard ( old North . Útgarðr "outside world") is in Norse mythology an area outside of the worlds inhabited by humans ( Midgard ) and gods ( Asgard ). It is a habitat for giants and trolls . According to Nordic cosmology, it is in the east. The ruler of this world is the giant Utgardloki . Legend has it that the giants were banished to Utgard and therefore cannot return to Midgard .
The Utgard peak in Antarctica is named after him.
