Utlängan is an island in the Blekinge archipelago in the Swedish province of Blekinge län .
geography
The island is far out in the open sea . Only Utklippan is further away from the mainland. Utlängan consists mainly of forest and meadow areas. The island is approximately three kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide. The size is about 215 hectares.
The port of Utlängan, Stenshamn , is on its own island. Utlängan can be reached from there via a bridge. In Utlängan there is a broadcasting station for signal reconnaissance ( Försvarets radioanstalt ). There is a lighthouse in the southern part of the island .
history
In the Middle Ages, the island was a starting point for sea voyages. The route is now known as King Waldemar's Sailing Route .
