The Utva 213 Vihor ( Serbian - Cyrillic Утва 213 Вихор ) was a two-seat beginner training aircraft from the Yugoslav aircraft manufacturer Utva and was originally referred to as Ikarus 213 (Икарус 213).

History and construction

The Utva 213 designed by the engineers Sostaric, Marjanovic and Curcic was a wooden construction with a retractable tail wheel chassis and was powered by a piston engine. The aircraft had a two-seat cockpit with a closed cabin and seats arranged one behind the other. The prototype was built by Ikarus , flew for the first time in 1948 and still had a retractable landing gear that was then modified to be laterally retracted in the production version.

Series production of the aircraft took place in the aircraft factory in Pancevo near Utva between 1950 and 1954. A total of 170 copies of the aircraft were produced and used by the Yugoslav Air Force for pilot training until they were replaced by the more modern Soko 522 .
