Uwe-Ernst Bufe

Uwe-Ernst Bufe (born May 22, 1944 in Teschen ) is a German manager and was CEO of Degussa-Hüls AG until 2000 .

Life

Bufe studied chemistry at the Technical University of Munich and received his doctorate in 1971.

In 1974, Dr. Called Degussa and was appointed to the board in 1987. In 1996 Bufe was entrusted with the chairmanship, which he held until 2000. In 1999 Degussa and the VEBA subsidiary Hüls AG (Marl) were merged to form Degussa-Hüls AG; thus the energy company VEBA became the main shareholder. The company's headquarters remained in Frankfurt am Main.

In 2000 he left after 26 years and joined UBS Investment Bank in 2001 . After seven years as Vice Chairman, Bufe left UBS in 2009. Since then he has held numerous supervisory and advisory board mandates.

Bufe is married and has two children, a son and a daughter.
