Uwe Czarnetzki (* 1959 in Recklinghausen ) is a German experimental physicist and currently dean of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy at the Ruhr University Bochum . He conducts research in the field of low temperature plasmas .

Professional career

From 1975 to 1978 Czarnetzki completed his training as an electrical system installer at RAG . He then studied physics at the University of Essen until 1985. From 1986 to 1991 he did his doctorate and until 2001 was a research assistant at the University of Essen. In 1999 he received his habilitation there in experimental physics. Czarnetzki has been at the Ruhr University Bochum since 2001. From 2004 to 2008 he was managing director of the Institute for Experimental Physics and since 2008 he has been dean of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy.
