Uwe Ommer

Uwe Ommer (* 1943 in Bergisch Gladbach ) is a German internationally recognized nude, fashion and advertising photographer who currently lives in Paris .

Life

Uwe Ommer has been taking photographs since 1957 and began a commercial apprenticeship in a photo shop in 1961. On the occasion of the Photokina in 1962 he was awarded the German Youth Photo Prize for a picture of children playing football. In 1963 he moved to Paris, where he worked as an assistant to the advertising photographer Jean Pierre Ronzel .

In 1965 and 1966 he won the German Youth Photo Prize again. Also in 1966 he went freelance as a photographer in Paris. He mainly took fashion and advertising photos for smaller women's magazines. In 1968 he had his first own campaign for a French shoe manufacturer .

His photos have appeared in Esquire , Zoom , Photographie, and other magazines. But he also made a name for himself with erotic and exotic nude photographs that appeared in several books.

Uwe Ommer changed abruptly in 1995 his interests and traveled in the years 1996 to 2000 by the five continents, with 1,251 interviews and developed over 1,000 family photos, as a project of social documentary photography 1000 Families were first shown at the Photokina 2000 in Cologne.
