Ivar Theodor Böhling (born September 10, 1889 in Ingå , † January 12, 1929 in Vyborg ) was a Finnish wrestler in the Greco-Roman style. Ivar Böhling started in Stockholm in 1912 at the Olympic Games , where he won a silver medal

Career

In March 1911 Ivar Böhling, who belonged to the Helsingin Alteettiklubi (HAK) , was able to secure the Finnish championship for the first time in Vyborg. He took part from March 25 to 28, 1911 in the unofficial world championship in Greco-Roman style in the light heavyweight division. In this championship he had to contest 13 fights because every wrestler in his weight class had to compete against every other wrestler. He wrestled u. a. draw against Alfred Asikainen, Finland, the eventual winner, but lost against Anders Ahlgren from Sweden and Arvo Lumme from Finland. In the final statement, he finished 7th.

A year later, he won the light heavyweight silver medal at the Stockholm Olympics . The final fight against the local Anders Ahlgren lasted 9 hours without a wrestler being declared the winner. Both Ahlgren and Böhling received the silver medal. The golden one was not awarded.

In 1913 he was again Finnish light heavyweight champion. 1914 started at the unofficial European championships held in Vienna . He only fought against Austrians and ultimately won ahead of Alois Toduschek .

In 1915 and 1916 he was again Finnish champion, both times in the heavyweight over 82.5 kg. Whereby he won first place in 1915, ahead of the four-time Finnish champion and later Olympic champion from Antwerp, Adolf Lindfors .

In 1916 Ivar Böhling joined the professional wrestlers, but ended his wrestling career in 1920.
