Adolf Lindfors

Adolf Valentin Lindfors (born February 8, 1879 in Porvoo ; † May 6, 1959 there ) was a Finnish wrestler.

Career

He started wrestling with the wrestling club Porvoon Akilles before the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries , but had his greatest success when he was over forty when he became Olympic heavyweight champion in Antwerp in 1920 . As was common in Europe at the time, Adolf Lindfors wrestled in the Greco-Roman style, in which handles are only allowed from the waist up.

Adolf Lindfors was already successful at international championships before 1914. In 1911 he was vice world champion and in 1912 he finished 7th at the Olympic Games in Stockholm . He won the Finnish heavyweight championship four times, the first time in 1905 and the last time in 1913.
