Mikael Ljungberg
Bo Urban Mikael Ljungberg (born June 13, 1970 in Gothenburg , † November 17, 2004 in Mölndal ) was a Swedish wrestler .
Ljungberg won the Greco-Roman style wrestling in the 97 kg class at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . Ljungberg also won a bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, as well as two world championships and two European championships. Persistent back problems from an injury in Sydney forced him to retire in January 2002.
On November 15, 2004, just 2 days before his death, Ljungberg was chosen as the new head of sport in the Swedish Wrestling Association. Ljungberg was under medical treatment for depression . He ended his life by suicide ; he hanged himself in the mental hospital where he was a patient. In September 2014 he was inducted into the FILA International Wrestling Hall of Fame for his services to wrestling .
