Uxue Barkos Berruezo (born July 5, 1964 in Pamplona ) is a Spanish politician.

Life

Barkos graduated from the University of Navarra . She worked as a journalist for the now discontinued regional daily newspaper Navarra Hoy , for Radio Nacional de España , Televisión Española and, since 1990, for the regional broadcaster Euskal Irrati Telebista (EITB). In 2004 she was elected as a non-party candidate for the Nafarroa Bai electoral alliance in the elections for the eighth Congreso de los Diputados and has since been re-elected up to and including the 11th parliamentary term in 2011. She has been a member of the Pamplona City Council since 2007, where she ran unsuccessfully for mayoral elections. In November 2011 she was a co-founder of the Zabaltzen party and became its chairman. On June 1, 2015, she resigned from her office in Madrid. After the regional elections in Spain in 2015 , she was elected President of Navarra by a minority coalition (with the PSOE abstaining ) ( Presidente de la Comunidad foral de Navarra (es) - Nafarroako Foru Komunitateko Lehendakari (eu)).
