Västanfjärd [ ˈvɛstanfjæːrd ] is a former municipality in the eastern part of the archipelago off the coast of southwestern Finland. It is located on the island of Kimitoön in the eastern part of the archipelago off the coast of the Varsinais-Suomi landscape . At the beginning of 2009, Västanfjärd merged with the two other municipalities on the island, Kimito and Dragsfjärd, to form the new municipality of Kimitoön (Kemiönsaari).

The municipality of Västanfjärd had an area of ​​97.10 km² and included the southeastern part of Kimitoön, the second largest island in the Finnish Baltic Sea, and about 80 smaller archipelago. The community last had 790 inhabitants, 90% of them Finland-Swedes . Since 1993 the community has been officially bilingual with Swedish as the majority and Finnish as the minority language. Until the 1920s, Västanfjärd was an important center of sailing and at its best had a population of up to 1,700. In addition, agriculture and fishing are traditional industries. Lime was mined in Västanfjärd until the 1950s .

The old church of Västanfjärd is a simple wooden structure from the years 1759–60. After the old church became too small, the New Church of Västanfjärd was built in 1910-12. This represents the style of national romanticism ; gray natural stone was used as building material.
